Joined the club

In the wee hours of this morning, after leaving BPs on the southside, we made our way over to Sherwood park so I could fill up.  1146.4 Km on 59.327L of diesel.

I’ve joined the 700 mile club. 712 miles at 54.6 IMP MPG/ 45.45 US MPG, 5.18L /100Km.  In city.

This brings my lifetime to 46.7/38.9 IMP/US MPG, 6.05L/100Km over 32805km.

The last 5 tanks average: 52.42/43.19 IMP/US MPG, 5.39L/100km.

Vacations…

So I’m nearing the end of three full days off. In a row. This is a damn vacation for me. I can’t say that I’ve accomplished a lot this few days, but I feel damn good.

Saturday night we went out to the park to a house party Bryan invited us to…  I kept thinking that I really shouldn’t have to justify going with “I need to fill up anyways”, but that was the hilight of the trip.  The party sucked. I guess I shouldn’t be entirely suprised by that. We ran back here… hung about for a bit, then I dropped Carla and John off.  Lame.

Yesterday I woke up fairly early and got a fair bit of computering done.  Carla finaly rose from the dead and I headed over to her place with the intention of going out shopping for clothes. Over an hour later, after she made brownies, we finally set out to find clothings.  I came home with some styluses for my Treo, the new Tool disc and Awake by Dream Theater.  Yeah…

Last night were over at Johns, he’d tried to round up a good group of people for a fire, we managed to add Ellie, but everyone else decided tobe sucktastic.

Today could be considered a write-off.  Been on a torrenting binge.  Signed up for last.fm. I’m testing KDE on my workstation right now.  Installing ubuntu on a machine for Carla so she can stop using my MythTV frontend as her desktop (threw a 9800 Pro AIW in her machine so she could game a little too).

Last night we started talking about Tat’s again.  I’m really wanting to get the debian swirl done.  I should start looking into how much it’ll set me back.

I hate wireless

I spent 4 hours on the phone, 2 with the senior support staff at Linksys, and I’ve basically learned that even though I had everything setup correctly, if I set back to defaults, and then slowly add things back the way they are supposed to be, it will all work finally.

This isn’t particularily a difficult setup, one router to cover the main floor, then 2 access points at the begining of the hallways hardwired to the router, two access points further down in repeater mode.

Associate with the router and it all works fine.  Associate with the access points and you can’t ping the router or get out.  Associate with the router, keep a continuous ping going and walk down to the other access points, and you stay connected.  As soon as you stop that continuous ping, the router falls out of your ARP table and you can’t find it again.

Associate with the router, and you can ping all the access points, hardwired and repeaters.

Fucking black magic is what it is.

1000 km and counting

Filled the golf last night and I figured it was time to squee a bit. The tank had a 400km run out to Edson and back, which put it around 40% highway.

I pulled 1037.5km out of 57.117L for an average of 5.51L/100km or 51.31 mpg Imperial.  Not the best mileage I’ve seen to date, another run out to Edson, filling right before and right after got me just shy of 55mpg, but this is the first time I’ve broken 1000km.

Works out to 644 miles on this tank, and the low fuel light just came on, so I had at least another 50km in there.  I’m getting closer and closer to the elusive 700mile club.

We’re 4,000km away from an oil change, so I guess it’s time I start looking for some 506.01 0w30 Elf Evolution CRV Oil.  Hoping to hit 60mpg this summer, if not more. I think I’ll probably platuea around 60-63mpg highway untill we do more drastic things like install a taller 5th gear and the like.

In related news… I’m pretty sure my new co-worker thinks my car runs on magic.

Testing 123

Testing BloGTK 1.1 on my debian workstation. Seems in order for the categories defined in wordpress to show up I had to set the account type to “Movable Type”… which I then saw when I went found the site for the link above.

Go me!

Back story

Just a bit of backstory on why I have categories for my car.

I’m insane.

I bought my 2005 VW Golf GLS TDi brand new with 37km on it Aug 6, 2005. Since then I have averaged a little over 100km a day in it.

26417km, over 90% in city driving, with a lifetime average of 45.54 imperial MPG. My best to date was a run out to Edson and back on winter diesel, yielding 54.9 imperial mpg over 400 some km.

I’ve got some creature comforts to add to my Golf. I’ve hit my EPA rated city mileage, this summer I want to hit my rated highway mileage… 61. It will be done.
